Julian F. Grow published just seven science-fiction stories in the 1960s, five of them the comic ‘Dr. Hiram Pertwee’ tales, the first, ‘The Fastest Gun Dead’ (If, 1961), a much-praised blend of Western and SF, was picked for Judith Merril’s year’s-best. A small but well-liked body of humorous magazine fiction; little is recorded of his life.
