Laurence M. Janifer (1933–2002), born Larry Harris, later adopting his Polish grandfather’s surname, wrote for over fifty years. He co-created the Hugo-nominated ‘Psi-Power’ novels with Randall Garrett (as ‘Mark Phillips’) and is best known for the ‘Survivor’ series about troubleshooter Gerald Knave. Also an editor, critic and accomplished pianist, he was a fixture of the magazine field from the late 1950s on.
