Robert Silverberg (born 1935) began as a phenomenally productive young pulpster in the 1950s and reinvented himself in the late 1960s and 70s as one of the genre's most ambitious literary voices, with novels like Dying Inside and the Majipoor books. A multiple Hugo and Nebula winner and a Grand Master of the field, he has been a defining presence in science fiction for the better part of seventy years.
