Allen Kim Lang (born 1928) began publishing science fiction in 1950 and produced a good run of action-minded stories through the following decade, in If, Analog and elsewhere. ‘Blind Man’s Lantern’ and the comic ‘Cinderella Story’ are among his better-known pieces, and his novel Wild and Outside sends a baseball player to civilise an alien world. A reliable entertainer of the magazine era.
