Robert F. Young (1915–1986) spent nearly his whole life in western New York and, for much of his writing career, worked as a school janitor, a fact the SF community learned only near the end. His prolific short fiction, beginning in 1953, was prized for a poetic, romantic style that drew comparisons to Bradbury and Sturgeon. His tender time-travel tale 'The Dandelion Girl' remains his best-loved work.
