Evelyn E. Smith (1922–2000) was an American author who published bright, satirical science fiction in Galaxy and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction through the 1950s, while also compiling crossword puzzles professionally. Her humorous, socially pointed stories, often concerned with gender, stood out in the male-dominated magazines of the day and anticipated later feminist science fiction. She is also remembered for the Miss Melville mystery novels.
