James Stamers published a short burst of science-fiction stories around 1959–1963, several bought by Galaxy’s H. L. Gold, with premises as odd as crystalline teleportation and a planet that breeds its own life. His small body of work, ‘Dumbwaiter’, ‘The Imitation of Earth’ and others, is idea-rich and now little known; the biographical record is thin beyond the stories themselves.
