William W. Stuart published a run of science-fiction stories in the late 1950s and early 1960s, appearing in Galaxy, If and their rivals with wry, idea-driven tales such as ‘Inside John Barth’. Beyond the bibliography little is recorded of his life, a characteristic figure of the magazine boom, present on the page and elusive off it.
