Sonya Dorman (1924–2005) was a poet whose science fiction, though not large in quantity, is highly regarded, ‘When I Was Miss Dow’, a subtle story of an alien shapeshifter imitating human womanhood, is a much-anthologised classic. Her precise, poetic sensibility made her a distinctive voice in the 1960s magazines.
