Joe L. Hensley (1926–2007) balanced a career as an Indiana lawyer and judge with writing; he published science fiction from the 1950s (often in the Milford-workshop orbit, sometimes with Harlan Ellison) and became better known for his legal-thriller crime novels. A respected part-timer whose genre stories carry a distinctive moral edge.
