‘Eando Binder’ (from ‘E and O’) was the byline of brothers Earl and Otto Binder, though most of the fiction was Otto’s. Their best-known creation is Adam Link, the sympathetic, first-person robot of ‘I, Robot’ (1939), predating and, some argue, influencing later robot fiction, whose plea to be judged as a person is a small landmark. Otto Binder went on to write vast amounts of comic-book science fiction, including much of the Captain Marvel and Superman canon.
