Edward W. Ludwig (1920–1990) began publishing science fiction in 1950 and produced some twenty magazine stories, several later collected as The 7 Shapes of Solomon Bean. His novel The Mask of Jon Culon wakes its hero into a dystopia ruled by a repressive faith. A Coast Guard veteran of the Pacific war, he wrote history and biography alongside his fiction.
