C. M. Kornbluth (1923–1958) packed a remarkable body of work into a short life. A member of the Futurians fan group as a teenager, he wrote coruscating, cynical stories, 'The Marching Morons', 'The Little Black Bag', and collaborated with Frederik Pohl on the satirical classic The Space Merchants. His savage wit and social insight made him one of the sharpest writers of his generation before his death from a heart attack at just thirty-four.
