Wilbur S. Peacock (1915–1979) edited Planet Stories from 1942 to 1945, one of its most fondly remembered runs, and filled its pages with his own colourful space opera besides. He later wrote for television and turned out detective and western pulp under various names. A hands-on man of the pulp era, ‘one of the crowd’ as a colleague recalled.
