James McKimmey (1923–2011) was a Nebraska-born writer who, after wartime service, alternated between crime and science fiction across hundreds of stories and seventeen novels, publishing widely in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and Planet Stories. He is of special interest for his long, admiring correspondence with Philip K. Dick, two working writers keeping each other going.
