Henry Hasse (1913–1977) is remembered for two things above all: ‘He Who Shrank’ (1936), a dizzying tale of a man forever shrinking through universes nested within universes, much anthologised since; and co-authoring ‘Pendulum’ (1941), Ray Bradbury’s first professional sale. A dedicated fan as well as writer, he was woven into the early social fabric of the genre.
