Paul W. Fairman (1909–1977) was a busy writer and editor across science fiction, mystery and more. He was the founding editor of If, then edited Amazing Stories and Fantastic from 1955 to 1958, and later managed Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. His own stories, some, like ‘Deadly City’, filmed, appeared under a swarm of pseudonyms. A consummate professional of the magazine trade.
