Russell R. Winterbotham (1904–1971) was a Kansas newspaperman who published widely in Astounding in the 1930s and returned to the magazines in the 1950s. Beyond SF he wrote at least sixty children’s ‘Big Little Books’ for Whitman, scripted comic strips including Chris Welkin, Planeteer, and turned out westerns and crime under pen names, a working writer of remarkable range and output.
