Robert W. Wood (1868–1955) was a distinguished American physicist, a pioneer of ultraviolet and infrared photography and of physical optics at Johns Hopkins. He brought real science to fiction, co-writing the atomic-super-science thrillers The Man Who Rocked the Earth and The Moon Maker with Arthur Cheney Train, and delighted readers with nonsense-verse picture books like How to Tell the Birds from the Flowers.
