Arthur Cheney Train (1875–1945) was a New York prosecutor turned hugely popular author of legal fiction, famous for the wily lawyer Mr. Ephraim Tutt. For science fiction he matters for two novels co-written with the eminent physicist Robert W. Wood, The Man Who Rocked the Earth (1915) and The Moon Maker, early ‘super-science’ thrillers grounded in real physics, imagining atomic power and world-threatening weapons.
