Paul Ernst (1899–1985), born in Akron, Ohio, was a fast and versatile pulp writer whose science fiction, weird and adventure tales filled the magazines from the 1920s. He created the Weird Tales super-villain Doctor Satan, and, as ‘Kenneth Robeson’, wrote the original two dozen ‘Avenger’ hero-pulp novels. He later graduated to the higher-paying ‘slick’ magazines. A consummate professional of the pulp era.
