Harry Collingwood (1843–1922), pen name of William Joseph Cosens Lancaster, a civil engineer, was a popular author of boys’ sea-adventure stories, several of which drift into lost-world and speculative territory (submarines, hidden civilisations, wondrous inventions). A characteristic purveyor of the Victorian-Edwardian scientific-adventure tale for young readers.
