Arthur Leo Zagat (1896–1949) was a WWI veteran and Fordham-trained lawyer who gave up the law to become one of the pulps’ great workhorses, publishing some 500 stories across science fiction, horror, mystery and hero-pulp. His SF began with ‘The Tower of Evil’ (1930), co-written with Nat Schachner, and he wrote the ‘Doc Turner’ series for The Spider. His novel Seven Out of Time appeared the year he died.
