Andrew Fetler (1925–2017) was a Latvian-born, much-travelled author who became a professor of English at UMass Amherst and a two-time O. Henry Award winner whose stories appeared in The Atlantic and major anthologies. Alongside his literary fiction he wrote science fiction, bringing a polished, cosmopolitan sensibility to the genre. A Guggenheim and NEA fellow.
