Stephen Barr (1904–1989) contributed witty, ingenious short stories to The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and others in the 1950s and 60s, often turning on a neat logical or scientific twist. He was also well known for his popular books on topology and mathematical recreations, a characteristic meeting of the playful and the rigorous.
