Charles Beaumont (1929–1967) was one of the finest fantasy and horror short-story writers of his generation and a key scriptwriter for The Twilight Zone, penning classics like ‘The Howling Man’ and ‘Number 12 Looks Just Like You’. The charismatic heart of a circle including Matheson, Nolan and Bradbury, he wrote with wit and dark elegance before a rare early-onset degenerative illness ended his life at 38, a genuine lost talent.
