Rick Sternbach (born 1951) is a celebrated science-fiction and astronomical illustrator whose covers filled Analog, Galaxy and F&SF from 1973, winning him two Hugo Awards for best professional artist. He co-founded the ASFA and the International Association of Astronomical Artists, and as a Star Trek scenic artist and technical designer he shaped the visual world of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, the phasers, tricorders and starships built from his designs. A major visual contributor to the genre.
