Miriam Allen deFord (1888–1975) was a suffragist, socialist and pioneering journalist who turned to fiction, publishing widely in both mystery and science fiction, her SF, much of it in Boucher’s F&SF, tackling nuclear war, alienation and changing sexual roles. A dedicated Fortean who did fieldwork for Charles Fort himself, she gathered her genre stories in Xenogenesis and Elsewhere, Elsewhen, Elsehow.
