Forrest J. Ackerman

Forrest J Ackerman (1916–2008) was less a writer than an institution: the ultimate science-fiction fan, a literary agent to many authors, coiner of the term ‘sci-fi’, creator of the campy horror hostess Vampirella, and founding editor of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland, which inspired a generation of filmmakers. His vast collection and irrepressible enthusiasm made him a living link to the genre’s entire history.
