Donald A. Wollheim

Donald A. Wollheim (1914–1990) shaped science fiction as much through editing as writing. A founder of the Futurians, he assembled the first-ever SF anthologies, ran the Ace Doubles line (where he published early Dick, Le Guin and Delany), and in 1971 founded DAW Books, the first mass-market imprint devoted wholly to SF and fantasy. He wrote fiction too, but his editorial influence on the field is immense.
