Everett B. Cole (1910–2001) was a professional soldier, a D-Day veteran of Omaha Beach, who wrote science fiction on the side, almost entirely for Astounding under John W. Campbell. His ‘Philosophical Corps’ stories, about a galactic peace-keeping service, were fixed up into a Gnome Press novel in 1962. A representative Campbell-era writer of competent problem-solving SF.
