E. Hoffmann Price (1898–1988) was the model of the working pulpster, a West Point graduate who wrote more than five hundred stories across science fiction, fantasy, horror and adventure over sixty years, many for Weird Tales and steeped in Eastern settings and mysticism. He collaborated with H. P. Lovecraft on ‘Through the Gates of the Silver Key’ and knew the whole Weird Tales circle personally. He won a World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1984.
