Dick Purcell was a New York writer, a restaurateur’s son who skipped college to try writing, whose first story sold to Ziff-Davis and who published science fiction in the mid-1950s magazines, ‘The Girl in Tube 14’ (Fantastic, 1955) among them. Little is recorded of his life beyond the bibliography; his stories are a pleasant minor corner of the era.
