Christopher Anvil (1925–2009), pen name of Harry C. Crosby, was one of John W. Campbell’s favourite contributors, turning out dozens of witty, puzzle-driven stories, many gently mocking bureaucracy and human folly. The ‘Pandora’s Planet’ sequence, in which hapless alien invaders are undone by human unpredictability, is characteristic. A dependable, entertaining voice of the Campbell Analog.
