Charles Willard Diffin (1884–1966) was a chemist and airplane salesman who debuted in Astounding Stories in 1930 with ‘Spawn of the Stars’ and became a reliable purveyor of fast interplanetary and world-saving adventures in the Edmond Hamilton mould. His more restrained ‘The Power and the Glory’ thoughtfully questioned the uses of atomic energy. A characteristic voice of the early-1930s pulps.
