‘Boyd Ellanby’ was the shared byline of the immunochemist William C. Boyd (1903–1983), a pioneer of blood-group genetics and a friend of Isaac Asimov, and his wife Lyle Boyd. From 1952 the pair published some sixteen stories in Galaxy and other magazines, plus the novel The Star Lord, which recasts the Titanic disaster as a spaceship meeting a hyperspace ‘iceberg’. A distinctive scientist-and-spouse collaboration.
