Samuel L. Knapp

Samuel L. Knapp (1783–1838) was an American lawyer and man of letters whose Extracts from a Journal of Travels in North America… by Ali Bey (1818) purports to be a future traveller’s account of the year 2848, describing a transformed continent, an early and unusual example of American speculative and future-history writing. A curious footnote in the genre’s American prehistory.
