Neil R. Jones (1909–1988) began the long-running ‘Professor Jameson’ series in Amazing Stories in 1931, a scientist whose brain, preserved in orbit, is revived far in the future by the machine-bodied alien ‘Zoromes’ and roams the cosmos with them. An early, influential vision of cyborg immortality and benevolent robots, it directly inspired the young Isaac Asimov. A characteristic imaginative pioneer of the early pulps.
