James Causey (1924–2003), a Compton-born writer, began in Weird Tales in 1943 and, after wartime service, published science fiction in Galaxy and its rivals in the 1950s before turning to well-regarded crime novels like Frenzy. One of his stories was adapted for Alfred Hitchcock Presents. A versatile professional across the genre magazines and the noir paperback.
