Harry Stephen Keeler (1890–1967) was a singular American author famous for his ‘webwork’ novels, vast, absurdly coincidental plots stuffed with bizarre characters and improbable devices, sometimes drifting into the science-fictional. Derided and adored, he has become a beloved cult figure for the sheer deranged ambition of his storytelling.
