Albert Robida (1848–1926) was a French caricaturist and author who, in works like The Twentieth Century, illustrated the future with astonishing prescience and wit, video-telephones, aerial commuting, mechanised warfare and women’s changing roles, all in his own exuberant drawings. Less earnest than Verne and more visually inventive, he is one of the great imaginative illustrators of the coming age.
