Harry Harrison (1925–2012) brought humour and a satirist's edge to science fiction, most famously in the roguish Stainless Steel Rat series and the anti-war comedy Bill, the Galactic Hero. His serious side produced Make Room! Make Room!, the overpopulation novel filmed as Soylent Green. A former commercial illustrator and tireless traveller, he was named a Grand Master of the field late in his long career.
