Vilhelm Bergsøe (1835–1911) was a Danish zoologist and popular author whose speculative fiction, notably a tale of a future world threatened by a comet and saved by advanced technology, makes him a pioneer of Scandinavian science fiction. His blend of real science and imaginative adventure was ahead of its time in Danish letters.
