Stanley Waterloo (1846–1913) was an American journalist whose The Story of Ab (1897) dramatised the life of a Stone Age man in vivid detail, one of the founding works of the ‘prehistoric fiction’ genre, alongside Jack London’s Before Adam (which drew accusations of borrowing). A notable contribution to the imaginative reconstruction of human origins.
