John Victor Peterson published science fiction from 1938, beginning with ‘Martyrs Don’t Mind Dying’ in Astounding, and turned out competent genre stories for the magazines until about 1959. His one novel, Rock the Big Rock (1970), came later. Little is recorded of his life beyond the bibliography, which places him squarely among the reliable second-tier hands of Campbell’s Astounding.
