Henry Slesar (1927–2002) was an advertising executive who became one of the most productive short-story writers of his era, prized for the twist ending. He wrote widely in science fiction and crime, won an Edgar Award, and became a hugely successful television writer, supplying scripts to Alfred Hitchcock Presents and, for years, the daytime mystery serial The Edge of Night. He is credited with coining the word 'coffee break'.
