Vincent Starrett (1886–1974) was a Chicago bookman, poet and the pre-eminent early Sherlock Holmes scholar (The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes), who also contributed weird and fantastic tales to Weird Tales and elsewhere. A cultivated bibliophile with a genuine feel for the eerie.
