A. A. Milne (1882–1956) was an accomplished playwright and essayist, but is immortal for Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, the adventures of a ‘bear of very little brain’ and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, drawn from his son Christopher Robin’s nursery. Gentle, funny and quietly wise, the Pooh books are a cornerstone of children’s imaginative literature.
