Willem Bilderdijk

Willem Bilderdijk (1756–1831) was a towering and eccentric figure of Dutch letters whose A Short Account of a Remarkable Aerial Voyage and Discovery of a New Planet (1813) is an early Dutch work of imaginative space-voyage fiction. A prolific poet and polymath, he brought the fantastic voyage into the Dutch tradition.
