Frederik van Eeden (1860–1932) was a Dutch psychiatrist, reformer and author whose imaginative and philosophical fiction, including the dream-vision The Bride of Dreams, reflects his pioneering study of consciousness; he coined the very term ‘lucid dream’. A founder of a utopian colony and a searching literary mind, he stands among the reflective European ancestors of speculative fiction.
